The Architecture of Public Housing -
Hospitality and Danger between Public and Private Space.
This talk addresses the failures and successes in Public Housing in the United States through the lens of public and private space. It will analyze how the Architecture (and Landscape Architecture) has often failed to properly mediate between the two realms and how the health of these communities has suffered as a result. Mr. Littell with provide spatial analysis of this condition, address specific precedents and design approaches, and give historical account of public housing and of the critique of public housing.
